We are excited to share the latest progress from the READy project (Addressing Disparities in Literacy Acquisition), our European initiative dedicated to enhancing literacy education through innovative digital solutions and teacher training.
Over the last few months, our team and partners across Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Romania have been hard at work developing tools to help primary school teachers identify and address the cognitive and societal challenges of reading and writing acquisition.
Here is a look at what we have achieved so far:
Advancing Teacher Training
One of the core pillars of READy is equipping teachers with the right skills to spot early literacy difficulties. We recently achieved a major milestone with the launch of our Teachers’ Training Package, which includes both national and transnational courses.
Highlights include:
Online Transnational Training: We successfully hosted a major online course, "Neural Processes, Learning Problems, and the Impact of Digital Technology on Children's Development." This session provided critical insights into how learning difficulties link to mental well-being and the real-world effects of excessive screen time on learning behavior.
Resources Now Available: For those who missed it, the video recordings, along with pre- and post-tests and evaluation questionnaires, are now accessible on the project website.
National Programs: We are rolling out specific training curricula adapted for our partner countries, including the recently released program for the Spanish Teachers Training course.
Now Testing: The Interactive Evaluation Platform
We are thrilled to announce that we are now testing the first version of the Interactive Evaluation Platform!
This digital tool is designed to be a game-changer for the classroom. It allows teachers to:
Promptly identify societal and cognitive determinants that may hinder reading and writing acquisition.
Evaluate children's cognitive and literacy skills using evidence-based metrics.
Create a data-driven foundation for personalized intervention.
This testing phase is crucial as it helps us refine the user experience and ensure the platform is as effective as possible for educators in the field.
